July: Ace of Wands

Hello my July lovelies,

Fox here with your monthly installment of Tarot guidance, created exclusively for Sunshine Makers Market. If you’re anything like me, you may have found yourself glued to the news lately, doom-scrolling about our world, just traipsing about in an existential nightgown like a summer ghost in a Dickens novel. If this is you, I come bearing glad tidings. Our monthly card is The Ace of Wands, a bouquet of literal hope from the universe. This card promises help is just around the riverbend, but we must meet it wholeheartedly to receive its blessings.

First let's talk about the suit of Wands. The wands represent growth, fire, creativity, the path, our purpose and fulfillment. Think of the potential energy of logs stacked up for a fire, think of the lumber set aside to build a bridge, think of a magician’s wand and the spells he may cast, think of the walking stick in your hand as you cross over the threshold into a new way of being. Wands represent all of these scenarios and help guide us down the path Goddess wants us on.

It’s no secret that our society lives most-comfortably in the world of the Pentacles (money) and Swords (thoughts). It’s my learned truth that our creators want us to balance these worlds with the Cups (emotions) and Wands (the path). The Ace of Wands is the beginning of this re-balancing, and appears out of the blue like a branch of peonies from heaven. Our task? Find a vase quick, so we can accept these blooms and learn more about Goddess's message for us.

Aces are a new beginning, and in this instance, represent hope, a new opportunity, or an A-ha moment from our creator. This might look like a new idea for a creative endeavor, a gorgeous sunset that makes us feel inspired, a new path opening up for our life’s purpose, or the strength and hope it takes to weather, oh I don’t know, a fascist hostile takeover of our government. The lesson with Aces, however, is that we must accept them and bring them down from heaven to earth. It’s like the old saying, “You can pray to catch the bus, but you still have to run…”

For makers and small business owners:

Keep your eyes peeled for a new endeavor or facet of your business that you might not have thought of before. What’s gleaming just off your periphery? Let the inspiration carry you towards action, so you can make these dreams real. In her book, Big Magic,  Elizabeth Gilbert talks about the spirit of creativity having an expiration date if you don’t act fast. She’ll find another human to stir with her message if you’re not there to accept it, so take that fiery branch down from heaven into the hearth of your life.

Stone pairing:

Citrine, with its sunny luminescence and its proclivity for stirring inspiration and creativity makes it a perfect stone to pair with The Ace of Wands. Hold a piece of this stone on your sunset walks and think of where you’d like to go next, who can help you with this task, and what the beauty of resistance looks like for you and your systems of support.

Ok sweethearts, I hope this month’s card brings you blessings of hope and fortitude. Remember that none of us are going through this alone, and that when we speak out and ask for help, we encourage others to do the same. I’m wishing you all love and laughter throughout our collective fight, and if I can ever be of help with a one-on-one reading, you can book readings at the next Sunshine Makers Market, here or click the button below to schedule.

In Love & Wonder,

Fox
