August: Four of Pentacles
Hiiii summer lovers!
Fox here with your monthly deep-dive into the world of Tarot: Fox’s Wild Card, brought to you exclusively by Sunshine Makers Market. I hope August’s installment finds you in good health and nurturing your post-solstice revelations with wisdom & clarity. And *speaking* of clarity, it's time to get right with our finances! Or so says our card this month, The Four of Pentacles… (Oof)
Ok, so the suit of Pentacles speaks to us of earthly powers and energetic streams. Understood as a coin with a pentagram on it (the body!), a Pentacle is a symbol of how we make wealth with our health. Some of the streams associated with this suit are money, time, bodily energy, earthly resources, and cultural collateral (Art-money! Spirit coins! Use yr imagination!) The Pentacles ask us to take stock of how we use our energy, and what energy we are getting in return.
Fours in Tarot are stable numbers and you can think of them like the legs of a table. They can allude to partnership (2+2), equality and momentary rest. The Four of Pentacles is asking us to gain clarity around our financial & energetic streams by investing time into checking them out. This means budgeting! Awareness! Investments! Spending time on dreaming (a type of planning!) about what success looks like for you, so you can plan accordingly.
This is literally a card that makes my skin crawl lol. I can be such an in-the-clouds creative, and I love to just throw everything against the wall and see what sticks. The Four of Pentacles is…ahem… *not* this energy :( This is a card of getting all the bills and invoices organized, reaching out to folks about unfinished business, and just getting right and positioned in your life. I know, absolutely terrifying, and I’m an earth sign…
The Four of Pentacles also asks us to examine what we trade for money, and vice-versa. How do we treat our bodies while working? How much time do we spend in pursuit of our goals? Pentacles aren’t *just* money, but also time and our connection to our physical self. So if we’re gonna audit, let’s audit! Maybe your life just needs a little re-balancing.
For small business owners:
I mean, this seems pretty obvious! Organize your desk! Write the emails! Figure out a budgeting app that is easy, pretty, and makes sense to you. Also figure out if all of your ventures make sense. Is there a client that takes up too much of your time but always forgets to pay? Have the difficult conversation. We let bad clients go to make space for ones who can treat us with respect.
Stone Pairing:
I’m gonna pair this month’s card with a big beautiful chunk of clear quartz (one of my fave-sies) What I love about quartz is it really cuts to the bone of an issue. Have a question about your life? Grab a piece of quartz and sit down in your feelings chair and wait for the answer. Maybe even put a pair of googly eyes on yours, name him Clippy, and put him right next to your laptop while you invoice and budget ;) But in all seriousness, Quartz and the Four of Pentacles are a match made in heaven.
