June: The Empress
Hiiiii sweethearts!
I hope this June edition of Fox’s Wild Card finds you easing into the warmer months here in Los Angeles, surrounded with the loving support you deserve and planning potential summer trips to fill your heart’s cup. I’m in such a grateful place in my life right now, and I owe a lot of that gratitude to the deity in this month’s card, The Empress. I was elated to draw her for us all, as she is a powerful reminder that when we invest in our pleasure, our whole world blooms into power and bounty.
When I first started my journey with Tarot 5 years ago, I was enamored with The Empress. Each day I would draw a single card from my new deck, doing my best to memorize the meaning and keeping an eye open for that card’s influence in my day. When I would pull The Empress I would feel especially charged and hopeful, and would work to bring her blessings into my life. In a way she became my spiritual dragmother (“Welcommmmme to the House of Empress” lol) as she taught me the ways of pleasure, peace, and power.
The Empress is an invitation to our own vulnerability. A diving feminine entity, she frolics in a caftain at the edge of the wilderness, beckoning us to follow her, a flower crown in her hair representing her connection to power. But how can she represent power, being so wild? We’re probably much more comfortable with the teachings of The Emperor in this culture: to-do lists and structure and armor-underneath our cloaks. But I like to think of The Emperor as the trellis, and The Empress as the vine. We need the structure of the gardener, and we need the vibrant wildness of life.
In a way, The Empress is a vacation from the teachings of The Emperor. She asks us to invest in pleasure, be a little wild and frivolous, enjoy the natural beauty of the world, and to fill our cup so that we can get down to business again at a later date. We all know what happens when we don’t take breaks, right? Our bodies take them for us. Keeping our eyes on The Empress helps prevent this from happening. So go buy yourself that little gift you might have pushed aside, or those summer freezey pops that remind you of being a kid, and take an impromptu trip to your sacred places in nature.
For small business owners:
Take a break, my dear ones! It is time to rest and play. I promise you, what you invest in yourself through the spirit of The Empress, she will give back to you three-fold in ideas and stamina and big youthful smiles. She’s a reminder why we work so hard: so we can play and experience life.
Remember too that our customers and clients pick-up on our energies, and (as I’m sure you’ve noticed) when we’re in a good and playful mood, we attract the best folks and experiences. Ask yourself how you can be e a leader in your pleasure and joy, and just watch those pentacles pour in!
Stone pairing:
Labradorite, with its rainbow-mirage like qualities, is a perfect stone to pair with The Empress. This stone is just brimming with creativity and all the colors of the rainbow, a great stone for reflecting on Pride Month and our LGBTQIA+ family. Labradorite is especially useful for helping us listen to our intuition and psychic abilities as well.
